Painting Mistakes to Avoid When Getting Your House Painted

Using Too Many Colors

The best thing about painting (or repainting) your house is that you can choose whatever theme s you want and pick any color of your choice to give your house a new look. However, there are certain mistakes that you can make that make your paint job look like a disaster.

The only way you can avoid making these mistakes is if you know about them. Here are some of the most common mistakes people make when painting the interior of their homes:

Mistake #1 – Painting All Four Walls with a Dark Color

This happens when you do not have a foresight as to how your room is going to look after it is painted. Painting all the walls of your room will make it look small and dark. Instead, you should simply paint an accent wall with a dark color and paint the rest of the walls with light or neutral shades.

Mistake #2 – Using Too Many Colors

Another mistake people make when trying to use a combination of colors that they overdo I, making their room look too bright, and simply unattractive. You don’t want your room to look like it was confused about its paint, do you?

If you want to use more than one color of paint in your room, then you should use a maximum of two shades on a single wall and three in a room.

Mistake #3 – Using More than One Pattern At A time

Textured paint finishing looks nice, but that doesn’t mean you should use them with say, paint finishing of another design or even with wall paper. The overdoing of patterns in a room doesn’t look nice and so you should avoid putting in too many patterns in a single room

Mistake #4- Not Removing Old Paint from the Wall

If your wall has scrapes of old paint on it, then you need to remove it before you put fresh paint on the wall if you want your wall to be painted smoothly. This is because scrapes can sometimes get into fresh paint, which spoils the entire look of the wall. Also, if you’re painting your wall with a lighter color, then you should remove the old paint so that its shade doesn’t become visible under the new paint.

It is recommended that you always clean your walls before getting a paint job done so you get the desired results.
